Key learning outcomes:
At the completion of the 2nd cycle studies, students should have developed their musical composition skills to a high professional level, in order to create soundtracks for movies, TV series or broadcast, managing the production from the birth of the idea until the creation of the mockup, the recording of live instruments and the final surround mix 5.1. They should be able to take responsibility for the engagement between context, audience and musical material, showing an independent and well-developed personality. Through individual in-depth research and study, they should be able to apply their knowledge to express their own artistic concepts. Students should have a profound understanding of the interrelationship between their theoretical and practical studies and should have a sense of how to use this knowledge to strengthen their own artistic development. They should also be able to demonstrate their command of verbal skills to express their aesthetic concepts. Students should have become fully autonomous learners, able to take on extended and complex tasks in an organized manner, dealing with complex projects, alone or in groups, independently and with confidence.

Mode of study: Full-time / Part-time

Admission requirements:
To apply for a Master’s degree it is necessary to hold a Bachelor’s (EQF level 6).
Admittance will be based on the entrance exam results.
All subjects are taught in Italian. For non-Italian native speakers, it is highly recommended to hold a B2 level certificate in Italian language (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Any applicants who do not yet have any Italian language certificates at the time of enrolment can take a placement test at the Rovigo Conservatoire in order to ascertain their skills. Language tutoring is guaranteed during the academic year.

Qualification requirements and regulations: this course is based on the ECTS credit accumulation system. The student must complete the curriculum as described in the Course structure. This includes compulsory and elective subjects and other activities for a total of 120 ECTS credits.

Final exam: the final exam consists of the writing and the discussion of an essay on film music, and of the composition and implementation of a soundtrack for a full-length or a medium-length film.

Examination regulations and grading scale:
The Italian grading system is based on a scale of 0-30, with 18/30 as the lowest passing grade. 30/30 cum laude may also be awarded. The final grade is based on a scale of 0-110, with 66/110 as the lowest passing grade. To the highest grade of 110/110, cum laude may be added, but only with the unanimous decision of the examining board.
Rovigo Conservatoire publish on its website an ECTS Grading Table which shows the actual distribution of examination and final grades among students of each degree programme, in order to facilitate comparison with other grading systems.

Access to further studies: Graduates holding a 2nd cycle degree are eligible to apply to 3rd cycle degrees.
